Current Trends in Tourism

Tourism industry is one of the most dynamic and fast developing sector which has a huge impact on economy. This sector is significantly effected by global economy therefore tourism and travelling also move downward in case of crisis in the financial circumstances. In this essay I would like to present some examples, how tourism has been effected by crisis in the main Arabic countries and Greece. Besides, it will be outined how airlines sector has been changed in the last five years. In 2010, there was some critical point as disturbances and civil war in significant tourism destination such Egypt or Tunisia. These countries most considerable income comes from tourism but obviously lack of tourists can cause an economy crisis. Although these countries lost their visitors but other Eurasian countries (for instance Turkey) made profit because those tourist who prefer to visit that region choosen Turkish-Riviera which is safer than Arabic languague areas with similar conditions. However, T urkey made a profit by the the political crisis in Egypt.Egypt's neighbours – for example Libya and Israel – had loss too, since many tour operators had organised combined tours to these countries and that tours were cancelled, consequently the loss increased. By summer of 2012, the politics situation became stabled and some part of these regions got back their popularity especially the Red-sea coast and Sinai. Also, there are some difficulties in the Europien market. Between 2009-2012 Europe continued its struggle for surviving, mostly one of the main mediterranean destination, Greece. The crisis has become deeper and painful. Tourism is incredibly important for Greece, for the main profit comes from tourism and catering consequently they can not loose this significant income. Due to crisis some advantages came up for the visitors. The economy situation has helped push down the value of the Euro, making to Greece relatively cheaper for Americans or other foreign visitor s. In fact, some prices has been fallen such as hotel rooms and food due to crisis. As a result, number of the tourists is roughly the same.According to Giorgos Mamalos press advisor of the Greek embassy said:† Greece is certainly going through a crisis, but this has no significant impact on security and tourism. † Let us have a look on airlines. Airlines have an important impact on tourism and they have affect on each other. In the past few years some airlines have no choice to avoid to break down. Hungarian airlines (MALEV) was shuted down in this year after 60 years service. It was not a huge global airline but it kept a connection between Balkan and West-Europe and had flown over 33 countries.Following their bankrupcy there is no more flight between these two region therefore tourism has strongly decreased. Also, many airline such as Kingfisher Airline, Delta Airline etc. exist, although they are suffering by financial problems, which has an effection for tourism ind ustry. On the other hand, low-cost airlines such as Ryanair, take advantage on their competitors crisis and found new opportunities that generate strong competition on the aviation market. Notwithstanding, according to Bernd Hahn's â€Å"A study on low cost carriers in Europe† essay the full-cost carriers do not loose to many clients because of low-cost airlines. What is the reason why the low cost and high price airlines and travel agencies are not virtual competitors? I reckon, question is simple. Every customer has different needs. Those passangers that had previously travelled with traditional airlines and agencies and they had been satisfied with service, well, they will not change their habits – independently on prices. Those who can afford only lower budget but would like travelling and visiting other countries – these passengers will use low-cost airlines and cheap services. It is not a simple „fare-competition† because both of them have a diff erent level of service. Consequently these companies are not real rival. Yet, they have to keep an eye on each other because tourists financial circumstances, tourism and aviation market can change very quickly and they can win or lost customers. To sum up, in the past few years has been a global economy and political crisis which has affected on the tourism and airline industry. Importancy of low-cost airlines have been growing continuosly, which is an important trend. It seems these industries have survived the crisises and some forecast shows that positive trend will be continuing in 2013, although the unstable economy situation always have a negative impact on the industry . My First Pocket Money

I had never felt so good in my life. I earned my first pocket money when I was in high school. During school holidays, many students preferred to stay at home or go on holidays, but I wished to experience the school holidays differently this time. As soon as the school holidays started, I began to look for a part-time job. The first day of the holiday, I went to grocery stores and malls to look for a job. I saw a lot of places that wanted to hire part-time sales associates, and I decided to go into a clothing store. The store assistant gave me an application form to fill out. After I completed the application, the store supervisor came in and asked me some questions while she was checking my application. Unfortunately, she immediately declined my application because I was a student. I went to other stores and tried my best to get a job, but every time my application was rejected. I went home feeling disappointed. The next day, I went to the mall located not far away from my house. I a sked about part-time jobs store after store. Finally, I found a restaurant hiring part-time workers for the coming Friday. The restaurant owner was so nice and friendly even knowing I was a student. She told me that she would interview me in 10 minutes. Then she called me go into her office and asked me some basic questions about my education, skills, and availability. She also asked a couple of personal questions about my family and the reason I was looking for a job. After I answered all her questions, she decided to hire me. I was so happy, and before leaving the restaurant, I confirmed the time I would report to work. The following Friday, I arrived at the restaurant thirty minutes earlier. The restaurant owner felt so happy and welcomed me with a smile. After a short meeting with the staff, we began to set up tables, chairs, and decorated for the wedding party. As soon as the wedding party began, I got very busy serving drinks and food to the guests. Some of the guests keep on as king for new plates or new cups, so I needed to walk to the store room many times. After the wedding party ended, we cleaned up tables and helped the other staff who were cleaning the floor and kitchen. Before I went home, the owner paid me fifty dollars. She was very happy with my performance at work. I went home with my first earned pocket money and felt happy. Even though my first part-time job made me tired, I enjoyed it because of the nice boss. I was disappointed in the beginning because my job application was rejected many times, but I did not give up. Finally, I was hired and worked hard as a waitress. This job was only a one-time event for a wedding, but I gained a lot of experience.

Bride Wars and Year One

They get the wedding planner of their dreams, Marion St Clair who turns out to be the wedding planner of their nightmares and accidently books their weddings on the same day! Neither of them will agree to change their date, so they become enemies. As the tag line quotes â€Å"Even best friends can’t share the same wedding day. † The cake knives are out, but how will everything turn out? â€Å"Year One† is an American film also released in 2009, it is an example of a romantic adventure comedy. It is about two accident-prone Palaeolithic warriors. Jack Black who plays â€Å"Zed â€Å" is a prehistoric would-be hunter he gets kicked out of the tribe in the forest for eating the forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. His side kick, â€Å"Oh† played by Michael Cera is a gatherer and turns up to â€Å"try† and save him. The film is about their adventures set in the prehistoric era trying to save their two friends Maya and Eema. Both girls are from their former tribe and have been captured and sold into slavery, on their travels Zed and Oh meet Biblical characters on route to the city of Sodom. Do they succeed in saving them? Although they are of the same genre they couldn’t be more different films. â€Å"Bride Wars† is set in the 21st century, whereas â€Å"Year One† is set in Palaeolithic era, this means there is a very big contrast between them. Bride Wars gives the impression of being a comedy from the expressions on both the actors’ faces. They are both looking straight into each other’s eyes showing a devious look with a comic smirk, in a horror film there would be no trace of a comic smirk. â€Å"Year One† has the aesthetics of a comedy with Jack Black’s expression being apprehensive and confused, his eyebrow is raised. Michael Cera’s facial expression is one of worried eyes which suggests he is just merely a side kick, and doesn’t really have a say in what Jack is going to do next! â€Å"Bride Wars† gives the impression of comedy on the poster, you would never expect brides to have a â€Å"war† or the weapons to be cake knives. Year One† suggests that it is set in prehistoric times, the first year of man, but the title doesn’t really have a comic sense about it, I believe this is why the director cast Jack Black to star in it, he is a very well known for his comedy roles. People will know that a film with Jack as the main character is going to be entertaining and funny so will choose to see it on that basis. The advertising poster for â€Å"Bride Wars† implies some type of confrontation in the plot. In â€Å"Bride Wars† the actors Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway have a look in their eyes of pure distain. Anne Hathaway is a popular actress with female audiences of all ages. She has featured in many other films such as Princess Diaries, Ella Enchanted, Devil wears Prada and Brokeback Mountain, again she has a good following. In the poster both young ladies are dressed in wedding dresses this helps to emphases the term â€Å"bride† to look more potent, The actors have their hair down, which suggest a fight is about to break out, as brides nearly always have their hair up in an â€Å"updo†. The poster for â€Å"Year One† doesn’t imply a lot, being dressed in animal cloth relates to the title of the film and lets the audience know that this movie is set in pre-historic times. This leads me to think they might have gotten lost in an adventure, their body language looks like they have just seen something that is confusing or worrying to them. The colours used in each poster have soft tones, nothing potent or eye catching. Except the titles as this is what grabs the audience’s attention as they walk past. â€Å"Bride Wars† uses the colour theme of white and cream, these colours are usually associated with weddings e. g. purity, virgin brides, and wedding dresses, this again emphases the term â€Å"Bride. Year One’s theme is a desert landscape with a blue sky, this suggests it’s a hot day and they might be lost. The actors are the main focus of these posters; this suggests that the films revolve around them. The tag lines are intriguing, the tag line for Bride Wars suggests a confrontation within the film, and the tag line for â€Å"Year One† doesn’t give any clues to the plot of the film. This makes the person reading the poster want to learn more about these tag lines and what happens in the film, these help to grab the audience’s attention to hopefully go and see the film to find out more about them. The bold text in the â€Å"Year One† poster against the desert background makes the text stand out in the poster and catch people eye as they see it. The â€Å"Bride Wars† text on the word bride is similar to the text used on wedding invitations and further relates back to the film title. I think both posters have a target audience. Bride Wars is aimed at female teenagers and also would be appealing to female adults as it is about love and marriage. It is a feminine film, these are sometimes referred to as â€Å"chick flicks. † Year One is more of a teenagers film, not quite as girly as Bride Wars so might appeal to a wider audience. Teenagers are big fans of comedies and new movies that have just been released, they feel they can relate to them as they are light hearted and not serious. These posters inform their intended audience about the film, they try to entice them with intriguing tag lines that make the reader interested and wanting to see the film, and as they say â€Å"curiosity killed the cat. † They also inform people about the name, age certificate, genre, actors, and director, trying to persuade them in every way they can to see their film, to make it a success. In conclusion the posters are about as different as the films, â€Å"Year One† gives very little away about what is going to happen in the film so people will be curious to find out more, and perhaps research the film or discuss with friends what it’s about. Word of mouth is the best advert so getting people to talk about the film is a main goal for the poster. On the other hand the poster for â€Å"Bride Wars† lets you know the plot of the film, so when people see it they can make an instant decisions whether it interests them or not. Seeing two brides holding knives makes your imagination run and you just want to know what is going to happen. Both posters have a different target market, which explains why they are so different as they are tailored to appeal to different audiences. The posters have to grab and get the attention and curiosity of the people that they are aimed at and ultimately encourage them to want to go and see the film. Hopefully after seeing the film they will relay their experiences and enjoyment to other people and that will entice them to see the film too! What can the government do to reduce the level of unemployment Essay

What can the government do to reduce the level of unemployment permanently - Essay Example This percentage was equivalent to 197 million individuals (International Labor Office, 2012). Economists propose various theories and approaches towards reduction of the level of unemployment in various countries. The Philips curve, non-accelerating inflation rate of unemployment (NAIRU), natural rate of unemployment and general supply-side economics will be discussed in relation to a reduction of the unemployment rate. The concepts of supply-side economics developed and spread in the 1970s. These were a response to the Keynesian economic policy, particularly the failure of demand management in the stabilisation of the western economies during periods of stagflation at the time. The distinguishing factor of supply-side economics as a modern phenomenon is the argument on a favour of low tax rates for the working class (Wessels, 2006). Classical liberals at the time opposed taxes and government. Their claim was that every individual had a right to their own self and their property, and thus taxation was immoral (Wessels, 2006). Supply-side economists, on the other hand, argued that the collective benefit of jobs provided individuals an impetus for cuts in tax. In supply-side economics, macro-economists argue that economic growth can be achieved in a country by the government reducing the barriers of production and enabling people to produce and supply goods and services, and also invest in capital (W essels, 2006). According to supply-side economics concepts, consumers benefit from a high supply of goods and services at low prices (Atkinson, 2008). Furthermore, through investment and expansion of businesses, a country experiences an increase in the demand of employees (labour). Some of the typical policy recommendations for the concept are; less regulation, and low marginal tax rates to stimulate the production of goods and services (Atkinson, 2008). In supply-side economics, tax is viewed as a

Lifes Greatest Lesson Learned (must also include 1 direct quote from Essay

Lifes Greatest Lesson Learned (must also include 1 direct quote from book tuesdays with Morrie so reading this book is required) Read FULL Directions - Essay Example I learned from experience that there is something to the non-violent ways of many of our greatest leaders, from Martin Luther King to the Dalai Lama, that allows people to take control of their lives and to be immune from harm. I learned that non-violence is the only sane way to live. I see for instance that many on-going fights are the result of people retaliating from perceived or real hurts inflicted on them by others. I witness this daily. Each is a never-ending downward spiral of violence and pain, to the point where those fighting forget where it all started. The way to stop this is to stop retaliating. To nip it in the bud, the best policy is to not begin the cycle of hate, and to respond to negativity with its opposite. I know this is hard to practice, but in practical terms, those who are non-violent also are less likely to get into trouble with the law because they make it a policy not to harm others. They have peace in their lives, and are not afraid to go anywhere thinkin g that someone will come hurt them out of revenge. Being a peaceful person is simply the best way to live on earth (Albom, 1997). I learned too that living by the rules of love also means doing the work that we love, rather than aiming for work that gets us to a better place in terms getting ahead in life, or making more money. In a way this is a form of self-love too, to be in tune with what we really want to do, rather than allowing material considerations dictate how we are to spend our lives. I learned that when I do things out of a genuine interest and love, rather than to show off or to gain something in the short term, I do poorly. My heart is not in it, and I hurry to finish. I do not feel good about the work that I do in this spirit. I want to move on to other things right away. On the other hand, with some activities that I love, time seems to fly, and my

Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 200

Assignment Example A significant portion of the consumers in North America are Millennials who are dependent on their electronic gadgets in their daily lives. This trend has a negative impact to Bic because it undermines one of its primary products which are stationery, notebooks and pens. The trend says that the more the millennial market spends on electronics and gadget, the less they will spend to stationeries and pen which are Bic’s products. In addition, the pervasive use of gadgets also provided an alternative to Bic’s other traditional products which are coloring, drawing pencils, crayons and felt pens. They can now also be done in softwares such as photoshop, Corel Draw or other apps and this means reduction in demand and consequently, market share. Other traditional products however such as sticky notes and writing pens (white board) will not be affected by the trend of increased use of gadgets. Their demand could even increase as their use are becoming popular in presentations and group meetings. Another trend that could run counter to Bic’s profitability interest in the long run is its lighter market. At present, 40% of Millennials and 21% of adults may be smoker but this trend is going down. The increasing awareness for health and the ill effects of smoking will have negative impact on the demand for cigarettes and along with it is the decreasing demand for lighters which is Bic’s product. Various interests groups and advertising campaigns are increasingly becoming aggressive in convincing people to quit smoking. At present, many people are already trying to quit smoking or are resorting to e-cigarettes as an alternative. The figures are discouraging because 44% of men and women are already using e-cigarettes which have no use of Bic’s lighters. Either way, this does not spell good for Bic because it undermines its lighter products.

Strategic management Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words - 5

Strategic management - Essay Example Running an advert for a new project is significant before embarking in the real project. Therefore, vital control measures play a major role. Again, if the implementation is not executed according to plan, the company will not attain its desired goals. Strategic surveillance is essential for observing events in and out of a business that have a high potential of affecting the strategy. This is done by carrying out market research, utilizing past information, attending business meetings and tracking social networking sites. When a small business is planning to establish a new project, it is important for it to analyze literature in the relevant field to avoid making the wrong decision (Stephen, Lakhani, Brown & Malmi, 2008). On the other hand, special alert control refers to a thorough and speedy reassessment of a company’s strategy following a sudden event. For example, when an investor acquires a company’s competitor, it demands for immediate reassessment of the strategy because the investor could be planning to position the competitor so that it can achieve a competitive advantage. Surveillance control only predicts on potential risks while special alert control works to correct the predicted occurrence. Implementa tion control ensures that any established strategy whether meets the expected threshold. Operational control and assessment are essential in every business organization. The operations determine the possible outcome in the end. This means that high operational cost will lead to lesser profits hence the need to incorporate time, budgets and success factors in operations control and evaluation. Operations management ensures that proper designing, planning and control of production process is attained so that the business targets are met (Pearce & Robinson, 2011). Budgets are essential in establishing whether the operations are going beyond the manageable levels. Budgets
